SELF-PUBLISHING SUCCESS STORY:  MY SEXUAL AWAKENING AT 70

Toady we are privileged to have Lynn Brown-Rosenberg stopping by.
Lynn was raised in Southern California.  While she was a pianist-vocalist for over eight years, she has loved writing all her life.
In addition to writing screenplays (two of which are currently optioned for feature films), she wrote a short entitled SOLO and was honored with a Golden Eagle award.
An excerpt from her new memoir, “My Sexual Awakening at 70” has been published on Salon.com, she was interviewed by The Huffington Post, and The Sunday Times of London commissioned her to write an essay on it.

How long has this book been germinating in you Lynn?

This book has been germinating in me for decades.  I had often thought of writing my life story, but the time wasn’t right.  First, I couldn’t do it because my parents were still alive.  I was too in need of their approval and they would never have approved of this book!  Then, I thought it wasn’t interesting enough, thought it would sound like everyone else’s memoir.  But when I took my journey toward sexual freedom and began chatting on an online sex chat website, I thought the combination of those chats with the evolution of my past could both help others and be an interesting read.

After you committed to writing it, about how long did it take to get it completed?

Initially, it took nine months to write it.  But then with many revisions, it turned into three years.

Were you intimidated at all about going the self-publishing route?

Yes, I was intimidated!  I’m still intimidated!  Chris was such a great help to me; I felt I had a guide by my side and still do.

How did Christopher J. Lynch’s self-publishing seminar help you?

Let’s just put it this way:  there is no way in this world I could have self-published without Chris’ help.  It wouldn’t be a daunting task without him…it would be an impossible task!  All the tips he gave me, including pitfalls, were what I relied on.  I took endless notes.  I still have his voice in my head!

How do you feel now that you have a book published?

I actually feel manic-depressive!  When I get a radio booking, I’m high.  When I look at my sales, I’m low.  I’m only a few weeks in, though, so I’m hoping things will progress more smoothly as some of my efforts reap fruit.  However, I’ve come to understand through Chris that this isn’t likely to happen.  I just got my first book signing, though, so right now I’m high.  Check with me next week.

What’s next for you?

When I get more settled into the promotion phase, I want to continue with the new thriller I’ve begun.  I don’t like talking about the plot before I’ve got it down (I think it can dissipate your energy and enthusiasm for it); suffice to say there will be a murder.  And it will have a few secrets.  I think secrets and murder are a good combination.

Thank you Lynn. You can check out Lynn's book: My Sexual awakening at 70...and what led me here, at Amazon.com
